In this article, we will learn how to restore a volume or volume group from a snapshot in Dell PowerStore using PowerStore Manager. Since we will be restoring the source volume, it is important to note that it will be a disruptive process.
You will have to ensure that the source volume is offline or unmapped from the host before the restore operation begins and while the restore is in progress.
If you restore a volume group, all member volumes are restored to the point in time associated with the source snapshot.
NOTE: A snapshot is the point-in-time copy of the storage resource. When we perform restore using a snapshot, we will be restoring source volume or storage resource to a certain point in time, which may also lead to some data loss. As production volume may have received writes after the snapshot was taken.
